Battle at Isle of Ely by soulfinder90 Battle at Isle of Ely by soulfinder90
This is the first ever war seen I've ever drawn, and rendered with markers.

Environmental Concepts - Exterior

Based on the story of Hereward the Wake, an English hero (1035-1072), whom fought against the Normans conquest of England.

rendered it, then scan it and paint over some parts with photoshop.(especially the clouds)

Tell me what you think. :)

I really like it, but I have a few things to mention:
I noticed it's the square from your light and value architecture project (wich reminded me of Vizima a lot)
Next, wasn't the 11th century the top of gothic style times, about 300, 500 years since it appeared? Just saying, well, it doesn't look like gothic architecture to me much. The doors and windows on the church all have the pretty look that roman buildings had. I don't want to be annoying you, but I just had to say this.
Next, the 3 point perspective on the buildings, it seems a little off, the church is too bent and the house with a barrel is too straight.
And last, theclouds look kind of glossy and hard, like rubber or metal balls, not like real clouds wich are soft, basically big pile of steam.

Well, I pointed out all that seems wrong to me, I'm not as much of a professional as you are, you're way better than me, so sorry. But there's this one thing - I was told an artist should ask for negative feedback to eliminate mistakes next time, rather than praise.
I really like your work too, it's really pretty and atmospheric :)

At that time when I did this piece, I was still a student learning. Not a professional.

If you are referring to 'Vizima' from 'The Witcher', yes, I would say, the architecture is very similiar. Many European countries have roughly the same architecture styles(depending on the period). Nothing today is exactly 'original'.

The era that I've chose is during the Romanesque period, which is from the 6th to 10th century. It later on evolved to the Gothic period during the 12th century. So the 11th century, I would say, is still the Romanesque period. That's why the style look like Roman buildings.

And yes, I agree with you, I know the perspective is off, looking at this picture in a low angle view, the house is too straight and should be slightly angled.
